TUITION FEES
Lesson times depend on the student’s age and level. Generally, beginning students take 30 minutes lessons, intermediate students take 45 minute lessons, and advanced students take hour lessons. Students may have one or two lessons per week, depending on preference (e.g. one 60 minute lesson or two 30 minute lessons). Tuition is billed monthly, due by the first lesson of each month via Chase QuickPay/Zelle, Paypal, Venmo, or check. Please make checks payable to Maria Yeh and mobile payment services to mariayeh@mariayeh.com. A $15 penalty is added on for each week payment is late.
30-minute lessons $40
45-minute lessons $58
60-minute lessons $72ATTENDANCE POLICY
All students are expected to arrive on time and prepared with their lesson materials. If a student arrives after their scheduled lesson time has begun, the teacher will only teach the remaining portion of his/her time slot. If there needs to be a time change or cancellation, the teacher must be notified at least 24 hours ahead of the lesson. If the situation is an absolute emergency, a make-up lesson can be arranged. Otherwise, there is no make-up or rescheduling without 24 hours notice. A maximum of three make-up lessons can be given each year. There are no refunds for missed lessons. If you have vacation plans or planned absences, please report them before each billing cycle (the start of the month).
As the teacher, I acknowledge my own responsibility to notify parents and students of any planned absences I may have each month at the beginning of every pay cycle. If any potential conflicts do arise, I will do my very best to notify parents and students as early as possible, and a make-up lesson will be scheduled. If a make-up lesson cannot be scheduled, then a lesson credit will be forwarded to the next month.
EXPECTATIONS
Students are expected to practice at least 5 days out of the week (e.g. weekday afternoons/evenings). Each practice session should take as long as needed in order to accomplish all that has been assigned for the week, but the minimum time requirement is 30 minutes unless otherwise specified by the instructor for exceptional circumstances.
Parents and guardians are expected to be supportive and encouraging towards their child/children’s musical learning. Please note that support comes in many forms, including discipline if a child is not practicing properly (poor technique, accuracy, focus, etc.) and also praise if a child needs motivation or is inherently putting forth lots of effort to overcome a challenge. The end goal in learning an instrument, regardless of skill level and proficiency reached, is for every student to have developed good character, integrity and spirit. These qualities will positively influence other areas in their lives. If your child is under the age of ten, a parent must be present throughout the duration of the lesson.
LESSON TERMINATION
If a student is continuously unprepared, misbehaving, or absent for lessons, the teacher will first address the issue with the student and/or guardian(s). Based on the initial confrontation, a decision regarding lesson termination will be made. If the student or parent desires to terminate lessons, the instructor must be notified before the beginning of a new payment cycle. There are no refunds in the case of any sudden terminations or in the middle of a payment cycle.
